The flag emerges from the darkness tattered but unfurled still, a symbol of the invincible American spirit. The edition is numbered at 225, the age of our union at the time. Instead of many stars, there is one, symbolic of our unity during the crisis. Thus, it is entitled, The State of Our Union. As a response to the tragedy of September 11, I created the image to channel my anger, grief and frustration that there was little I could do to help. From the sale of each print, I donated $10 to the Red Cross. So I was able to raise $250 for the cause.
